ENTRANCE NAI MOVED
Because of the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) from Tuesday 15 September 2009 till 10 January 2010, the entrance of the NAi has been moved to the Museum Park. Visitors of the NAI enter Gallery 1 directly by crossing a new bridge. The reception, bookshop and bar have a spot in the IABR-Forum in Gallery 1 of the NAi. The regular entrances from the Rochussenstraat and Museum Park will remain closed for visitors until January 10 2010. Read more... |

NAMES OF NOMINEES YMERE NAI COMPETITION RESOUND IN NEW YORK
The five plans which have been nominated by the jury of the Ymere NAI idea competition 2009, have been announced in New York. This year’s competition, ‘Open Fort 400’, jointly organised by the Ymere Housing Corporation and the NAI in close collaboration with the Amsterdam Local Authority, asked designers to think about an open fort as the impulse for the further social, cultural and economic development of the area from the end of the Grasweg to the River IJ in North Amsterdam. OPEN CITY - DESIGNING COEXISTENCE

The main exhibition of the 4th IABR is Open City: Designing Coexistence in the Netherlands Architecture Institute. The NAI is literally opening up to the city of Rotterdam during the 4th IABR with a new and direct link between the street and the biggest of the exhibition galleries. Read more...

OPEN CITY: LECTURE BY KEES CHRISTIAANSE

The institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) and The Network Association of European Researchers on Urbanization in the South (N-AERUS) are proud to announce the 10th N-AERUS conference titled: “Challenges to open cities in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East: shared spaces within and beyond”. IDFA FILMS
NAI Rotterdam: several dates in October
The IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) is the world’s biggest festival for film documentaries. At the request of the IABR, the IDFA compiled a special series of film documentaries about the city, which will be shown at the Biennale. Featured films include The Show Must Go On (2002), Repetition (2005) and Megacities (1998). Read more... |
