NAI: UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
The Netherlands Architecture Institute opened its doors at the Museumpark in Rotterdam in 1993, now almost twenty years ago. Since then, hundreds of thousands of visitors have crossed the bridge into the striking building designed by the acclaimed architect Jo Coenen. Prishtina

OLE BOUMAN REFLECTS ON DEBATE IN PRISHTINA
On 25 February 2010 the NAI and Archis Interventions organised a Debate on Tour in Prishtina, Kosovo. The subject of the debate between Dutch and Kosovan experts was civilian participation in the planning of urban public space and new planning tools. International exhibition, March 6 2010 - August 6 2010
The exhibition Taking a Stance - 8 Critical Attitudes in Chinese and Dutch Architecture and Design is currently travelling in China. In this exhibition the NAI and Dutch Design Fashion Architecture (DutchDFA) present eight leading designers from the Netherlands and China. THOMAS KONG - ZERO: ALTERNATIVE SCENARIOS FOR ARCHITECTURE?

After one year of research, supported by the award of the 3rd Jaap Bakema Fellowship, the architect Thomas Kong will present his thoughts on the concept of 'Zero', which explores the informal use of 'empty' urban sites. In his lecture, Kong seeks to uncover the manifold meanings, expressions and opportunities of zero in the urban landscape at this critical moment in architecture. Register for this lecture...

LECTURE PETER ZUMTHOR
Lecture, De Doelen Rotterdam, June 17 2010, 20.00 hrs
On Thursday June 17th, the NAi organises a lecture featuring the world-renowned architect Peter Zumthor. Zumthor, winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2009, gained worldwide acclaim with projects such as the Thermal Complex in Vals, Switzerland. Zumthor is currently working on his first project in the Netherlands, the conversion of the Leiden flour factory. The lecture is organised by the NAI in cooperation with DMP Projectmanagement, and takes place at The Doelen, Rotterdam. Register for this lecture...

20TH EDITION OF THE PARADE STARTS IN AND AROUND THE NAI

The NAI welcomes the twentieth edition of the Parade theatre festival on June 17. This year the Parade will make use not only of the institute's outdoor space but also of the empty galleries in the building. The main gallery will host the travelling exhibition 'Somewhere and Everywhere',organised by the Netherlands Theatre Institute (TIN). Read more...

City Hall Models

RESTORATION OF THE CITY HALL MODELS COMPLETED
The restoration of the scale models of Rotterdam Town Hall was completed at the beginning of 2010. Models that were heavily soiled and damaged have regained their architectural and historical significance and are now ready for public display.
