SPECIAL ‘THE CITY OF HOLLAND’ POSTAGE STAMPS LAUNCHED
On Monday 28 March 2011, Ole Bouman presented Elco Brinkman (the chairman of Bouwend Nederland) with the first series of stamps called ‘The City of the Netherlands’, named after the NAI’s new permanent exhibition. The stamps are graced by five visions of a future ‘City of the Netherlands’. The very first stamps of their kind in the world!

OPEN CALL: STUDIO FOR UNSOLICITED ARCHITECTURE
The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture (Fonds BKVB) and the NAI are making an open call to architects, designers, artists and commentators who contribute to the design and layout of the Netherlands. They can apply to undertake a period of research at the Studio for Unsolicited Architecture. This research should eventually lead to a detailed proposal, a so-called market proposition.

RIETVELD'S UNIVERSE
The exhibition Rietveld's Universe, a co-production of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and the Netherlands Architecture Institute, will run at the MAXXI (National Museum of the 21st Century Arts) in Rome from April 14 until July 10 2011.

EXPECTED
From July 1st 2011, the exibitions City of Holland, dwarsdesign and Testify! will be on display in the renovated NAI. Visitors can also spend time at the DoeDek, a unique space that is especially designed to enable visitors to 'play' with architecture. More info will soon follow on the NAI website.

In the Blueprints of Paradise competition, African designers were asked for their visions for the built Africa of the future. The Senegalese architect and art curator N’Goné Fall reflects on their approaches. What potentials do existing economic, cultural and social structures offer for rapidly growing African cities? How can the ‘informal’ African city be integrated into planning strategies?
