TOURISTS NOW HAVE DUTCH ARCHITECTURE AT THEIR FINGERTIPS
From April 7 onwards the people of The Hague , tourists and expats can see the winning design for the International Dance and Music Centre (IDMC) on their smartphone for the first time. They can also marvel at an alternative design for, among others, the Bijenkorf . After Rotterdam and Amsterdam , The Hague is the latest city to have its architecture ‘captured’ by the smartphone app UAR; the buildings are presented in 3D.

YMERE NAI COMPETITION 2011: OPEN FOR PARTICIPANTS
On April 6th, housing corporation Ymere and the Netherlands Architecture Institute launched the Ymere NAI competition 2011, ‘New Harloheim’, at the Teylers Museum. Prize money and an exhibition at the NAi, but most importantly the chance to make a major contribution to a new vision for the City of Haarlem and its surroundings are at stake in this years contest.

EXPECTED
From July 1st 2011, the exibitions Dutchville, daringdesign and Testify! will be on display in the renovated NAI. Visitors can also spend time at the DoeDek, a unique space that is especially designed to enable visitors to 'play' with architecture. More info will soon follow on the NAI website.

RIETVELD'S UNIVERSE
The exhibition Rietveld's Universe, a co-production of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and the Netherlands Architecture Institute, will run at the MAXXI (National Museum of the 21st Century Arts) in Rome from April 14 until July 10 2011.

What Design Can Do! celebrates the power of design and its problem-solving abilities. This two-day conference presents design as a catalyst of change and renewal and as a means of addressing the societal questions of our time.
